Silk Fibroin is an insoluble protein in silk produced by many insects such as Bombyx Mori larvae and others, including Antheraea, curricula, samia and gonometa. Light and heavy chains are connected by disulphide bonds, and P25 is associated by non-covalent interactions with disulfide-linked heavy and light chains. In preserving the dignity of the complex, P25 plays a significant role. The heavy fibroin protein contains anti-parallel sheet layers. Its main structure consists mainly of the recurrent series of amino acids. The high glycine content allows for tight packaging of sheets that contribute to the rigid structure and strength of silk. A combination of rigidity and strength makes it an application material in various fields, including biomedicine and the manufacture of textiles.

In three structures called silk I, II and III, Fibroin is considered to be arranged. Silk I is the fibroin natural shape, as the Bombyx mori silk glands emit it.
